down time?

Wow! 2.5months since my last post. Tsk tsk, it's either I've been really, really busy or I was very much procrastinating. Tsk tsk..
Take a wild guess which of the two is the answer. :))

Hmmm, what have I been up to, the past 2 month's been quite weird at work, technically we have "no project" but for some reason, I was very busy everyday (I'm still figuring out where to draw the line between procrastination and whether I actually had real work done these past couple of months); which, sucks, really, because that means, I still haven't had the time to work on my special project for school. *sigh*

In April, I was in charge of the OJT of the incoming new members for our team.
On top of which, we had to finish the internal project we were working on, then we had to do the estimates for the proposals we were preparing for new project prospects.

In May, when the new members were deployed after their 5month training, we again had to train them for more technologies. Yep, that's the task, train and train and train while we are waiting for new projects.

Well, we still don't have projects for our department right now, which is why, we have to let a few of our members wander around in the other departments so that at least they'll have something to do (and we could earn). As for the grown-ups (I'm thinking of a better term) like us, we're staying put, waiting for new prospects, so that we can make the estimates then the managers could use it for the proposals. And whilst waiting, we are to do internal projects such as tools and small systems that the other departments need or something that the company can use. Oh, and we are currently fixing the training packages of our in-house training program. Tsk tsk, most of them seem to be quite old (and outdated?) already, the current training is already Batch 13 after all. Sheeeesh, the economy crisis is really taking its toll on our department pretty bad. I kind of miss analyzing business logic already. Disclaimer though, I still don't want to be thrown out to the other dev teams, I wouldn't want to leave the business apps team, waiting can just be really frustrating at times.

Anyways, I know I should be taking the down time at work as an opportunity to finally prioritize school stuff for the mean time, it's just that for some reason, I seem to be doing quite a lot at work that I can't find the time to skip it (going to work, I mean). I am still thinking of the best strategy for it. I'm waiting for my one-on-one time with my manager which was scheduled last week, but was postponed to tuesday next week, I'd have to polish out my battle plan by then.
